The internet connection at the hotel here is really unstable, and I will not be able to write much on this blog, or answer to many emails unless the connectio improves. It took more than 10 tries to get this text uploaded.
We had a good day with practice flights yesterday, I got a nice 1 hour flight on my Litespeed, the glider goes straight, and feels good so far. I have not been thermalling since July, so I’m a bit rusty for sure.
Today is the first competition day, weather looks good.
Since I changed the layout of the website last spring I’ve had a really nice header image, but I made a small error when changing the image, and it did not show as it should in Internet Explorer. I testet the new layout in many browsers, but I made a small change to the header image after all the tests. (Doh!) I only use Firefox, so I only saw it by accident when browsing my site on a colleague’s computer.
More than 60% of you use IE, but not a single person commented or complained, I must have really polite readers :-)

Our course is running well, despite some bad weather lately. Looks like we will have a nice new afternoon tomorrow.
I’m in the process of updating the look and functions of this website (Yeah, it’s raining). Please be patient while I get everything working again, should not take too long.
Update;
Should be mostly in place now, with the major stuff in place. I’m still working on the photo galleries, as well as some smaller details on this theme.
I’ve been using the same old theme for many years now, I’ve been looking for a new look for some time, but I’ve never had the chance to implement it. The Options theme that I use now was quite easy to implement, and it had some of the things I wanted for my new look. I assume most of my readers now are on LCD screens, and the dark theme should look much better than on old CRT screens.
This theme also have more room for bigger images and videos, as you can see.
What also might be useful for my readers is the new RSS feed in the right sidebar, where I aggregate news from most of the active hanggliding related blogs. Those of you who already read news from RSS probably have most of these blogs in our reader anyway.

The website is under some system maintenance, please have some patience while I finish the upgrades. I am in Cannes, France for a conference this week, and do most of the work in the breaks between sessions.
Also the HP/NLF, OOHGK, Jetta LSK, and Bjørn Hammers websites will be unstable during this week as they run on my servers.
Having to reinstall a server is a good opportunity to make changes and patch up old software. I have made some changes both visible and “under the hood” of the website. Hope you find the new look attractive and easy to use. As always let me know if there are things not working as expected. Feedback is always welcome!
The plan was to go flying in Vågå this weekend, and to test out the new payout-winch we bought. But the weather forecast predicted some wind, and I was asked to be on call for my job this weekend. I hope we can try the winch soon in good conditions.
The webserver crashed while I was traveling. First unplanned real downtime in many years. All the mailinglists and websites should be back up now again.
Oh yeah, scroll down and check out the weather applet in the right menu. It pick up the latest METAR from Gardermoen airport.
I’ve been getting a huge amount of comment spam, it’s the normal porn, free viagra and online poker sites, but the spammers leave comments on my articles instead of email. May they all burn in hell. I’ve added some scripts to WordPress to reject most of it, and also disabled comments on posts that are more than 45 days old. Also posts with more than 2 links have to be approved by me first. Thanks to Mark for the scripts
Please use comment on my posts, but if you use words like V1AGRA or FREE MONEY!! it might not appear at once ;-)
Just finished a quick update of the site. I will not accept any comments with more than 2 links. This is to prevent all the spammers that are leaving comments that link to gambling and porn sites all the time. Spammers do it to gain Google pagerank.
