Course progressing

Instructor duty this weekend. Rather unstable weather today, with heavy rain this morning. We went to Brandbukampen as it cleared up in the morning, but the wind picked up too much after two students got their first high flights. They both had exiting fligts and pulled too much speed, but both got good landings.

Weather tomorrow looks pretty good, I hope all students can get some good flights.

CompeGPS is out in version 4.04, the new MrSID satelite photos are really cool, they download automaticly and ready calibrated to use. Weird colors on some areas due to the infrared spectrum, but quite nicer than some of the static bitmaps we have used earlier.

This server will be moved sometime in the next few days, please come back later if it’s down. The mailinglists will also be down for a short period.

Went to Tronfjell for the annual meet there, great weather on Saturday. Robin flew 151 km past Trondheim, and Trond Olsen went over 80 km past Røros. Really good flights this late in the season, but conditions were good with cloudbase at 2500+ and moderate southerly winds. Olav and I flew to Tynset and landed in the center of town for Pizza and beer. Everyone flew for as long as they wanted, and most people top landed for several flights.

Sunday was a little more dodgy with OD and quite strong winds. A few pilots got to fly in the afternoon.

Not much flying lately, the weather have been pretty good, but I’ve been working. Fritz and I drove to Vågå this weekend, it was a little to windy to fly so we went rafting in Sjoa instead.

At Trøgstad the Aerotow went really well this weekend, Robin and Werner got long flights around 100km.

Satyrday was quite blue with little wind. We set at task from Vole to Sjoa via Vågå to goal at Sørem. 3 Pilots made it, Nils Åge made it on the fastest time and became the clear overall winner. I did not make it out of the start circle, and had to land at Sørem after a stupid mistake.

Tor Erik Moen made 2. place, with Otto Baste on 3. The Finns did well with 5. 6. and 7. place.
Norway won the Nordic team comp, my club Jetta LSK won the Norwegian team comp for the 4. time in a row.

The classic task Vole – Frya was todays challenge in the Nordic Open. After a week of rain it was great to finally see some sun and fly in reasonable good conditions again. I messed up at Sjoa, and lost the thermal that I needed to get over Torgeirkampen and probably to goal. Too rusty after no thermal practice in a very long time.

7 pilots made goal, with Nils Åge beeing the quickest, using 1:17 on the 61 km task.
