Info in Norwegian ;

The weather forecast for the Frya Cup last weekend was very good, but the conditions never got any good. I lost my first flight back from New York and did not make it to Oslo until Saturday afternoon, but I lost no points since the day was cancelled. Sunday looked more promising with blue skies and little wind. Eventually it turned out to be too blue and slow conditions. Tommy took off 2 seconds before the window closed at 15:00, and flew 17 km. Some of the pilots drove to Heidal and got some flying there, Terje Brønstad flew to Frya.

Monday was a little better in Heidal, I slept in the sun on the ramp for one hour and then the thermals started coming up to takeoff. Olav and I flew back to Vågå, but Erlend got stuck with tailwind. Totally blue, and maks height around 2000 meters.

Seems that there have been a few good flights earlier than I thought, Ingar Johansen flew 85 km from Flesberg in Easter, and Dag Ring flew 90 km from Frya 22/4. I have not had the time to go flying and then I won’t get to hear all the info. Good flying guys!

Back in Oslo again, the last two days in Bassano had fantastic flying conditions. It was bitterly cold at height though, – 15° at 2800 meters. Lots of pilots in the air flying all day. I took off on the last day and flew out over the plains in zero and lift for 10 km before I turned around and came back higher than I left, all without turning once. Driving back it rained all the way from the Brenner pass to southern Sweden.

I made a Moyes logo for my Siemens GSM phone, it might fit on a Nokia? Let me know if you use it (Right click and download)

Borso, Bassano, Italy
Yesterday Olav and I flew a short XC to try and cross over to Mt. Cesen. It was quite turbulent and it got windy when we came to the river. I landed on the Bassano side, Olav crossed over and got to the Observatory on the way back. The day before it rained all day.

The German leauge comp is here, yesterday was cancelled. We wanted to fly in the comp, but they would not let us join today. We waited until quite late before we went up this afternoon as it looked like it might overdevelop, and it sure did. As soon as we had our gliders rigged it was lightning and rain all over the sky. Tomorrow looks good, Sunday a little worse on the forecast.

Semonzo, Bassano, Italy
A quick update from Bassano, it rained as hell all the way from Inssbruck. The next day we flew a nice afternoon flight in slow termal conditions. Yesterday was good an we had a small out and return to the observatory and back. This morning it is quite gray, and looks like overdevelopment will occur during the day.
Our students have flown 4 flights each and is landing on their own now.

I have uploaded some pictures from Vågå last weekend in the photo archive, nice shots by Nils Åge.

Now it off to Bassano, Italy. We are leaving tonight, and will stop in Garmisch to have a look at the fair since nothing much is happening in Bassano this year. We’ll probably be in Bassano late Friday night if things go as planned. I’ll update these pages whenever I can if the Italian GSM networks work better than last year.

We have had nice weather lately, I was in Vågå this weekend with good conditions and some early spring thermals from Visdal.
Yesterday Fredrik Hoffman and I flew a sled ride from Sundvollen. It was a nice flight in still conditions.
